Well then why dont they rent out a stadium instead of thinking about it. like they said before GCHS field is on a flood plain when it rains water will stand there for a few days that can be a big problem.

Where did they play when they were in AA?
they played down there but since then there have been two floods that have completely destroyed the fences, dugouts, and field.....the point is it is not against any rules so why not play there? none of the players are unhappy cause they "have" to play in a minor league stadium

On that flood plain.
The money is there to fix the field. I think the Junior Indians rather like pissing everyone off by playing their home games in another state.
junior indians lol
tried for years to get the field fixed.....it would require tiling over the creek and completely turning the field around which the city will not allow
yeah but some parents do not like driving to TN.
Thats an hour to hour-half away from places like Pound and Clintwood. Thats an extra 30 mins than just playing at GC. Like I said, I see why they do it, I suppose, I just do not see how its legal.
haha extra 30 min? maybe if you are walking haha.....and as far as the long trip gate city travels at least 40 min to every district game
Ok, its 15 min from GC to the stadium, 15 mins back, thats 30. Added to the extra hour it takes to get there. To me its pointless, play the games, GC practices on the field. If they can practice there, they can play there. Appalachia basically plays on asphalt.
half the time gate city practices in the indoor cages or in the high school......we went almost two weeks straight without being on the field one year
i saw a guy on a razor scooter make it there in under 30 min..... and yes gate city dose drive over 40 min to district games witch they have to do alot
if you dont want to drive the extra 15 minutes then dont go to the game.....or try goin from gate city to every other school in the lpd before complaining about one trip every year
I find that terribly hard to believe
if fans dont like it then witch would they rather do sit on steel bleachers or in there cars or sit in nice stadium seats
believe it or not get on the bus and time it yourself it is fact.....powell valley is the closest school in the district to gate city and it takes 35 to 40 min to get there
Unless Kingsport North goes to Coeburn via US 23, Coeburn is only 40 minutes away via 72.
the only time we didnt go to a game via 23 is one time we were late goin to coeburn and the bus driver flew around those S curves on 72 or whatever it is and got me and my friend sick as heck hahha
and even then it is still 40 minutes which only proves my point
It is truly unbelievable to me that there are 56 messages regarding the "legalities" of GC playing at HW. It is even more disturbing that I allowed myself to be drawn into this "conversation"
cool man i guess make it 57 with yours
i honestly hope every one is threw with this but if not then sorry for the 15 min you wasted on a bus or a transportation device i do apologize for every one that has put there time and effort in to letting the high school students play a sport that is there for the love of the game and not worry about where they should play the game or what state it is in
Some people just have to have somethin to [censored] about. Thankfully they won't have this to cry about next year.
thank you every one has always cracked down on GC but i gess things will be much better next year for the lpd since they wont have to wory about getting beat by GC

You only have to go there once a year anyways. Get over it!
It is definite. GC will be playing ball at Hunter Wright Field this year -- straight from the GCHS administration. If any of the teams in the LPD can honestly say they have not enjoyed playing at that kind of field over the past few years, please tell us. Remember LPD, you won't get to come there next year! No Gate City does not play DB in baseball, but they play them in softball, but of course, not at Hunter Wright!
Well, I say if they don't want to make that one drive to HW this last year then they should just stay home. I'm sure the teams in the CMD won't mind playing there til we get the funds to start the new complex.
First of all Hunter Wright Field is not in Church Hill. It is in Kingsport and if you can't drive from Gate City to the field in 10 to 15 minutes, you need to get a better car (or driver)
for real it is just one time i wouldn't mind going 2hr for a game because i am a dedicated fan to sports!! i guess some of these parents don't love there sons enuf to drive and extra 15 min to watch them play.
The last time I checked, and officiated a football and baseball game at Graham, it was in West Virginia, the state. They have played their for over 25 years, and I bet they have this same conversation every year. Some things in life you can't change Anders, and this is probably one of them that you have no control over. No one is making you drive the extra miles to go watch a game. A lot of teams don't like the drive to Richmond to play a state tournament game, but their are a lot of teams who would like that opportunity to play there. I talked to some coaches of GC at Richmond this past week and they said that it cost a lot of money to go and the state doesn't reimburse them that much.
it really isent that big of a deal it is pretty much at the state line.
Hey if it is too far to drive for you, stay home
I hate my son... who doesnt play.
Everyones missing the real point, I just do not see how a team can play their games in another state. I agree its unfair for all to drive, these roads especially.
you hate your son
Hey I thought it was unfair that we couldnt play at Cwood like we wanted to in the state playoffs, but we got over it. You should too buddy.
I dont have a son.. only daugters. Its sarcasm, a joke if you will.
so you are the only one trying to stress the "real point" but is everyone else that is missing it
No, Im not saying anyone is missing it, you guys love it, most people like it, I just dont understand how its legal, it very well is, but I just do not get it.
ok i under stand..... but i kind of see where you are coming from but why do you see that it being in another state is soo unfair or however you would like to say it im a student and i love sports and i am very competitive and if we played PV or any one in another stat that was only 15 min farther i wouldn't care i would still go see it just for the fun of the game
Wow, its a state line...just think about this. Your gona wake up and feel stupid. I swear.
im not here to make any one feel stupid or anything im here just to talk about the topic and he has a right of opinion but it isent that big of a deal
